To paraphrase the words of two great heroes, Spiderman and Sir Winston Churchill, with great power comes great responsibility.
At Webreality we have always been aware that our professional skills are something we should not take for granted. They give us the power to make a dramatic positive difference to our clients, and we take the view that it’s our responsibility to share the benefit of such capabilities with charitable organisations.
One such charity is Jersey Hospice Care, with which Webreality has enjoyed a working relationship for over fifteen years.
In that time, we’ve produced numerous websites and web applications for Hospice, some completely free of charge, others on a heavily discounted basis.
Stand-out projects
Projects that we’ve found especially rewarding include the development of the web application that powers the annual Christmas tree collection service, and developing the application that enabled Hospice to move sales of the Million Pound Lottery online during the first year of the pandemic.
Most recently, we’ve worked with Hospice to produce a completely new main website. While the finished result at www.jerseyhospicecare.com looks sleek and simple, it’s actually a complex product on which Hospice depends in numerous ways for its operational effectiveness. The website is of course primarily there to help those in need of Hospice’s services for themselves, or for a loved one, to learn about and gain access to those services. But it also serves as a staff recruitment channel, a way of attracting volunteers, a promotional platform for fundraising events and for the Hospice shops, a mechanism for receiving donations, and even an online shop for selling Hospice merchandise.
Working with charities
It is always rewarding and energising to see the response of the Webreality team to the challenge of a major charitable client project, and the new Hospice website was a particularly positive experience for everyone at Webreality. Especially so, when we received such excellent feedback from the Hospice team, with these kind words from their Director of Operations and Business Development:
“You’ve gone above and beyond with your support, passion and expertise. You’ve been a pleasure to work with on this project and we look forward to an ongoing positive and long partnership.”
We’d call that a win-win!
